Ways to Wellness update
We’ve had lots going on through our Ways to Wellness programme over the last few months and lots to look forward to! Here are some highlights in addition to our Wellness Festival and Superhero Challenge & Triathlon.
Pride month celebrations
We celebrated Pride month by sharing information about what Pride is and what it means to LGBTQIA+ communities, and our Didcot hub led the way with banners and posters inviting everyone to think about what makes you proud to be you. We had a Pride Wellness Walk with over 25 people, flags and rainbow clothing, and we are attending Reading Pride in September with a small group of people we support.
Music and Dance and Yoga added to our weekly sessions
We now have seven active sessions a week that anyone from Style Acre can take part in. We’re partnering with Grace & Gravity Yoga on Howbery Park, and everyone is enjoying Music & Dance being fully back. The gym, tennis, football, zumba and walking sessions continue to be popular.
Healthy Hearts
From September to February, we are running a Healthy Hearts project at our Banbury Hub, with lots of workshops, taster sessions and wellbeing drop-in sessions about things that can keep your heart healthy. The project will culminate in a Healthy Hearts February with a big event, walk and activities for all to get involved in!
Cookery with Maymessy
We’re looking forward to people we support having a fantastic opportunity to gain and practice cookery skills with Maymessy – picking produce from the garden, learning about healthy options, and enjoying the peaceful surroundings at Maymessy’s specially adapted facility. We are so chuffed that they secured £10K funding to enable five groups to have multiple sessions – and our board of trustees enjoyed holding their latest meeting at Maymessy.
