Style Acre at the Regatta!

On Saturday 2nd September, Style Acre took part in our first ever Bell Boat race as part of the fantastic Henley Regatta for the Disabled.

The team had great fun and came in fourth place (we won’t tell you there were only four teams taking part!) – we won one of our races, lost two and then narrowly missed out to Bowley Boaters in the ‘minor final’ even though we brought in some friends as ringers from eventual winners The Chiltern Centre! Bowley Boaters went one step further bringing in a Kenyan Paralympic rower to help them!

We loved our Bell Boating experience – you row together as a team of ten in a very stable boat that is like two canoes rafted together. We will definitely be back next year with hopefully a bit more practice beforehand – and we would also like to make up our own Style Acre sea shanty to help us row in time with each other!

Next year’s event is on 7th September – definitely one for your diaries to be part of our team or to come and watch – there are also boat trips, an accessible climbing wall, live music, food, Punch & Judy and more going on.
