SABRe Achievement Awards Evening

On 12th September, Sabre held its second spectacular Achievement Awards evening.  Service users, staff, family, friends, employers and special guests Philippa, Rob and Chris came to join in the exciting event.  SABRe was transformed into a glamorous award ceremony that would put Hollywood to shame! A red carpet, balloons, drinks, nibbles, flower arrangements and lots of glitz.  The awards were presented with a certificate and a cone of sweets. People received an award for achievements such as volunteering and paid employment.  Volunteer of the year was a much sought after award. This year our well deserving winner was Lisa Swinburn who said “I can’t believe I won anything, especially volunteer of the year. I was very shocked and happy. I was especially pleased to get an award for doing my GSCE in English.”  Lisa is an asset for SABRe. She volunteers on reception and in our bookshop, which would not be stocked without her hard work and dedication. She has gained qualifications this year and has recently started volunteer work at Waitrose.  (Photo: Lisa Swinburn & last year’s winner John Saxelby, with Chris Ingram).  Karen Wyatt said “the evening was great fun and it made me really happy to win an award.”
