Job Coach

I am a Job Coach within the Work Development Programme at Style Acre. I have been working with adults with learning disabilities, and trying to find them paid and voluntary jobs, for at least sixteen years; three of these have been with Style Acre. I support adults with learning disabilities, who use the Day Services that we run or are living in Style Acre houses, to reach their full potential through introduction to work.

I became interested in helping people with learning disabilities when I trained in Basic Skills Adult Literacy. The wonderful thing about working with people with learning disabilities is that they are keen to get jobs and be like everyone else, and if you can achieve this for them then their gratitude and enthusiasm knows no bounds.

I am lucky to be part of a team where I can get advice  on Speech & Language Communication, which can make a great difference in supporting people with autism, and on IT support from a very patient IT Manager! When I am not at work I like to relax by walking my large fox red Labrador by the river or riding my friend’s horses.
