Working collaboratively with Sustainable Wantage and the Charlton Centre, this exciting project offers people with learning disabilities the opportunity to develop skills and enjoy gardening. The garden provides opportunities to be involved in meaningful and rewarding occupation in a quiet, safe environment, while delivering work experience. Some of the produce from the garden is used at our tea room.
Working alongside Sustainable Wantage has been a rewarding experience and a successful partnership. Every year we come together to organise the Wantage Spring Festival at the garden – a terrific community event.
Corporate volunteer teams have supported us at the market garden and we are grateful to NatWest, PepsiCo, Vodafone, Lloyds and Amey whose teams have donated hundreds of hours of support, enabling us to keep up with maintenance, construct a shed and create paths, compost storage and raised beds for our wheelchair users.
